EVENTS: Duane Pitre , Ilya Monosov, Comoros, Sunday, July 27th

THIS SUNDAY, JULY 27TH AT 8PM:
DUANE PITRE
ILYA MONOSOV
COMOROS

DUANE PITRE:
"Duane Pitre (originally from New Orleans) is a Brooklyn-based composer, improviser, and sound-artist. His primary instrument is electric guitar(s), which he plays in a nontraditional fashion, utilizing various objects such as mallets and rotary tools to coax unusual sounds from the instrument. His current works explore both chaos and discipline—and the territory that exists between the two."

ILYA MONOSOV:
"Ilya Monosov has collaborated with the likes of legends Pauline Oliveros and Tony Conrad; sound artists Andrew Deutsch, Marc Schulz, and Preston Swirnoff; Acid Mothers Temple's Makoto Kawabata; poet Bob Cobbing; guitarist Matthew De Gennaro; and more.
He also plays in the bands Womb (including Castanets' Ray Raposa and the Skaters' Dan Bryant), the Shining Path (the rock version of the Monosov/Swirnoff duo), and the occasional supergroup Mountain Home (including Marissa Nadler, Fern Knight's Margie Wienk, and Espers' Greg Weeks), and produces hip hop." -Nadav, WMBR

COMOROS:
Jennifer and Adam Mellin of Gote, and proprietors of the Fedora Corpse label are Comoros: "...huge washes of analog delay and spacious reverb...smeared and blurred to the point of abstract beauty without the usual instrumental signifiers. When identifiable voices (synth squiggles here, bass drones there) do emerge, they simply provide landmarks to help us catch our breath before sliding back into the beautiful murk..."
